The Benefits of Integrated Business Management:

Over the years, many companies have moved from disconnected management processes, with all their informality and fire-fighting activities, to having capable planning and control processes in place.  This movement has allowed companies to improve their customer service, improve their inventory management, improve direct labor management and lower purchasing costs.

In 2006, RJ Reynolds implemented Oliver Wight’s Integrated Business Management Process (including Sales and Operations Planning).  This implementation has resulted in significantly more value and benefits from its S&OP processes.

This presentation will provide specific examples of the benefits of Integrated Business Management at R J Reynolds.

Tommy L. Hickman is senior vice president - operations for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

Hickman joined the Reynolds in 1987 as quality engineer. After working in several areas of operations, he was named vice president - operations planning and quality assurance in 1997. Hickman was promoted to senior vice president - manufacturing in July 2002, and became senior vice president - operations in October 2008.
